Gran Canaria – Fun Holiday Destination, All Year Round
One of the most developed of the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria is also one of the biggest and most mountainous, it is often nick named the ‘Island Continent’ because of the variety of its landscape.
Whether you want to relax on the beach for a week, party all night, or take advantage of the fantastic water sports on offer, Gran Canaria is an ideal year-round holiday destination with sunshine almost guaranteed. You can bet on getting a tan at any time of year, with year-round temperatures of 21-29ºC. December to February is the coolest period but it is also the island's busiest time of year.

Beaches and Sand Dunes
The holiday island of Gran Canaria is blessed with excellent beaches, including the massive Saharan dunes at Maspalomas. The coast offers soft sandy beaches and holiday resorts with fantastic facilities, whilst the interior turns into a mountainous landscape. The beaches in Gran Canaria have excellent amenities including a wide range of water sports. This varied scenery makes Gran Canaria a great holiday choice for those seeking both fun and adventure.

Fantastic, Varied Landscapes
Gran Canaria is widely considered to be most scenic of the Canary Islands. The west side of the island is dominated by beautiful cliffs which fall dramatically down to the Atlantic Ocean whilst the south coast levels out gently to meet long sandy beaches. Inland the arid vistas give way to lush mountains and tropical vegetation. Gran Canaria is often described as a continent in miniature due to its contrasts.

Las Palmas, the Vibrant Capital of Gran Canaria
Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria, situated in the north of the island. It is the only place on Gran Canaria with a big-city feel. It has masses of shopping opportunities, a busy port and superb beaches. Las Palmas also has an interesting historic quarter with museums, churches and monuments, making it a must place to visit as part of your holiday in Gran Canaria.

Gran Canaria Nightlife & Entertainment
The vast array of bars, clubs and restaurants in the biggest beach resort, Playa del Ingles, is a major attraction for the young and lively crowd. Las Palmas is also buzzing at night, but it's a long way from the main beach holiday resorts in the south of Gran Canaria. The resort of Puerto Rico has lots of British pubs and cafes, ideal for those seeking a piece of home while abroad.  Party animals should visit Gran Canaria for the Carnival in February and March when the island is at its liveliest and there are parades and celebrations lasting several weeks.

Gran Canaria Holidays - Resorts with Fantastic Facilities & Holiday Accommodation
Playa del Ingles is the largest and busiest of Gran Canaria’s holiday resorts, offering two square miles of shops, restaurants and lively nightlife, plus 7km of sandy beach with water sports and superb sunbathing. In the quieter resort of Puerto Rico, holiday accommodation clings to the cliff face looking down on the beautiful harbour below. A traffic free promenade and crescent shaped beach make it ideal for family holidays. Maspalomas is a more sedate holiday resort close to the bustling resort of Playa del Ingles, with 3km of sand dunes and beach with a good choice of cafes, bars and restaurants.

Direct Connection can offer a variety of self-catering apartments, hotels and villas with private pools in Gran Canaria’s main holiday resorts.
