Costa del Sol Holidays - Year round holidays & golf breaks
Costa del Sol - Year round holiday destination
The Costa del Sol is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world, stretching along the Mediterranean coast of Andalucia. Over 160 miles of beautiful sandy beaches, a favourable year round climate & a variety of outdoor activities ensure tourists return to this part of Spain year after year for their holidays. Resorts like Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola and Marbella offer a variety of entertainment that caters for young and old alike. Despite the areas popularity, relatively uncrowded beaches of fine white sand can still be found and travelling inland, the tiny whitewashed mountain villages scattered over the lower slopes of the Sierra Nevada remain virtually untouched by tourism.
Varied Coastline
The eastern Costa del Sol, stretching 54kms east of Malaga is less developed than the coast to the west of Malaga. There are cliffs of up to 200 metres where the Sierra Almijara joins the sea. At the end of this beautiful coastline is the town of Nerja, featuring one of this area's main tourist attractions - the Nerja Caves, a spectacular find that is open to the public and that hosts an annual music and dance festival within its famous caverns. The western Costa del Sol stretches 100kms to the west of Malaga and is highly developed. It incorporates the cities of Marbella, Torremolinos & Fuengirola, where there is no shortage of bars, restaurants & nightlife.
Costa del Sol - World Class Golf Courses
There are about 60 golf courses on the Costa del Sol, often known as the "Costa del Golf". The fantastic year round sunny dry weather allows year round playing, which has ensured the Costa del Sol remains a popular golfing holiday destination. Some of the well-known golf clubs on the Costa del Sol include the Valderrama golf club which has hosted the Ryder Cup & the Volvo Masters, the Rio Real Golf Club near Marbella and the El Paraiso Golf Club near Estepona.
Costa del Sol - Famous Beaches
The Costa del Sol boasts many famous beaches, some to be seen on, others more relaxed and tucked away. There is plenty of watersports and more jet skis per capita than anywhere else in Europe! Playa Nueva Andalucia offers a number of trendy beach clubs in a picturesque setting with palm trees resembling the south Pacific. Puerto Banus is the place to be seen - no risk of not getting caught by the paparazzi if you're famous! If you want to get away from it all, try El Maro at the eastern extreme of the Costa del Sol - there are numerous large, isolated coves, some accessible by car, others only by path.
Great holiday resorts with high quality accommodation
There are many holiday resorts to choose from on the Costa del Sol, all with something for everyone. The liveliest include Marbella & Fuengirola, with Puerto Banus being the most exclusive & glamorous resort on the Costa del Sol. For those seeking a quieter resort, try Mijas or Puerto de Cabopino.
All the Costa del Sol holiday resorts offer an excellent selection of accommodation for holiday rental, from quaint apartments to luxury villas with private swimming pools.
