Fuerteventura Holidays - A Relaxed Family Destination

Fuerteventura Holidays - Corralejo Fuerteventura Holidays - Caleta de Fuste

Fuerteventura - Relaxing Holidays For All
Fuerteventura is the quietest and least developed of the Canary Islands. It has desert like scenery and being just 95km off the African coast, enjoys a warm climate which is cooled by Atlantic breezes. With mile upon mile of untouched sandy beaches, Fuerteventura is the ideal holiday destination for tranquillity and relaxation.

Year Round Holiday Destination
Fuerteventura is a year-round holiday destination with negligible rainfall and a wonderful warm climate for 12 months of the year. Even in December, the island has an average of five hours' sunshine a day. Temperatures top 30ºC in summer and 21ºC in winter.

Fuerteventura Nightlife
Fuerteventura has a number of welcoming bars and restaurants and some of the best fish restaurants in the Canaries. Entertainment is fairly low-key, with none of the noisy holiday resorts found on other Canary Islands. Corralejo has a good selection of bars and restaurants and a couple of discos. Caleta de Fuste is a bit quieter.

Wonderful Beaches & Water Sports
Fuerteventura is famous for its miles of unspoilt and uncrowded beaches. Many miles of these white sand beaches and rolling sand dunes have been declared a natural park and they are a major attraction for visitors to the island.
Water sports enthusiasts from all over the world come to Fuerteventura for it excellent windsurfing, surfing and diving.
In fact, Fuerteventura is one of the best places in the world to enjoy wind surfing. The sheltered bay of Caleta de Fuste is a good place to learn, whilst the experts head for Corralejo and El Cotillo. Other activities include deep-sea fishing for marlin and tuna. Fuerteventura is the ideal holiday destination for those seeking water sports adventure.

Fuerteventura’s Volcanic Landscapes
Away from the coast, beaches and sand dunes, the interior of the island is volcanic and relatively barren, with its own kind of unique beauty. Like its neighbour, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura was formed by volcanic activity, (the last event was more than 7000 years ago) and it is this which gives the island its unique character.

Good Quality Resorts and Holiday Villas
The main tourism in Fuerteventura is centred in and around a few good quality Fuerteventura holiday resorts, but the island is also dotted with charming Canarian villages which are definitely worth a visit if you are exploring by car.
The resort of Corralejo is the largest in Fuerteventura and is located in the north of the island. Caleta de Fuste is a younger resort situated further south. Caleta de Fuste in particular is excellent for families with shallow waters and a large, horseshoe shaped bay.

Direct Connection has a great selection of holiday villas with private pools and self-catering apartments situated in and around Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste.

La Lajita Zoo - This little fishing village on the east coast of Fuerteventura has been put on the tourist map because it offers one of the island’s main attractions, the ‘Oasis de Los Camellos’ zoo. The main attractions of the zoo are the parrot shows, horse rides and camel safaris.
Los Lobos Island - Nature Reserve. Located just a short boat ride from Corralejo is the peace and tranquillity of the Los Lobos Nature Reserve. There are wonderful views back to Fuerteventura and the chance to spot plants and birds which can’t be found anywhere else on the planet.
